KEY SCRIPTURES: Isaiah 9:1-7
MAIN IDEA: God’s hope shines brightest in our darkest moments. God’s promises never fail.
- Isaiah spoke to a nation crushed by war and despair. Yet into that darkness, he prophesied a coming light which is a child who would reign with justice and peace.
- The names “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” show that this child would not just represent God but He would also be God.
- Hope isn’t optimism or wishful thinking. It’s confidence that God’s promise will be fulfilled, even when you can’t see how. Darkness cannot overcome us.
- The birth of Jesus is the dawn that Isaiah foresaw! It is all about God Himself stepping into human history to bring light to those in darkness.
- God’s hope shines brightest in our darkest moments.
- Jesus is the promised Son who brings peace and establishes God’s everlasting kingdom.
