MAIN IDEA: When you see Jesus, you’ve seen the hope of the world.
- Simeon represents the faithful people of Israel. They are watching and waiting for the “consolation of Israel.”
- The Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that he would not die before seeing the Messiah, and when he holds Jesus, he declares, “My eyes have seen your salvation.”
- True hope isn’t found in what you achieve, but in who you meet. Ultimately, by my meeting Jesus Christ.
- Simeon’s song is a picture of fulfilled faith. He has joy, peace, and readiness to face the future because he has seen the Savior. Simeon has hope!
- In Jesus, every longing heart finds what it’s been waiting for. We all need the hope of Jesus.
Application:
As this year comes to a close, renew your hope by fixing your eyes on Jesus. Don’t just celebrate His birth but receive Him as your living hope.
