- Context: The disciples are anxious and fearful. Jesus has just spoken of betrayal, denial, and departure.
- Jesus addresses troubled hearts by saying, “Believe in God; believe also in Me.”
- The promise of a prepared place means that the disciples have assurance of eternal security. They have a home.
- Jesus Himself is the way to the Father. Jesus is not just a guide, but the road itself. Knowing Jesus is the key.
- Comfort does not come through answers or clarity, but comfort comes in the presence of God, the Spirit comes to dwell in us.
- Where do we seek comfort? In control, in people, in experiences, in material things, or in Christ?
