WEEK 2: True Comfort

DATE: September 14th, 2025

MAIN IDEA: True comfort comes not from circumstances but from trusting in Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
KEY SCRIPTURES: John 14:1-6; John 14:15-18; John 14:27
SUPPORT REFERENCES: Isaiah 26:3; 2 Corinthians 1:3-4; Matthew 11:28–30

- Context: The disciples are anxious and fearful. Jesus has just spoken of betrayal, denial, and departure.

- Jesus addresses troubled hearts by saying, “Believe in God; believe also in Me.”

- The promise of a prepared place means that the disciples have assurance of eternal security. They have a home.

- Jesus Himself is the way to the Father. Jesus is not just a guide, but the road itself. Knowing Jesus is the key.

- Comfort does not come through answers or clarity, but comfort comes in the presence of God, the Spirit comes to dwell in us.

- Where do we seek comfort? In control, in people, in experiences, in material things, or in Christ?

- How can you extend Christ’s comfort to someone else this week?
