Prayer is one of the most familiar practices in the Christian life. For many of us living in America, it has also become one of the most confusing and inconsistent. We know prayer matters. We know we should pray. Yet for many, we still struggle with how to pray, when to pray, and what to do when prayers seem unanswered.
The disciples felt this same tension. They watched Jesus teach and heal with authority. They saw power flow from His life. They recognized that prayer stood at the center of everything He did. This realization led them to a simple and honest request. “Lord, teach us to pray.”
Over the next three weeks, we will slow down and learn from Jesus. We will learn how to pray. We will learn how to live a life shaped by prayer. This series will explore the practice of prayer, the perseverance of prayer, and the power of prayer. We trust that God will form His people through prayer as He advances His purposes in the world through us.
The question before us remains the same as it was for the disciples long ago. Are we ready to be changed when we make the request, “Lord, teach us to pray”?
