WEEK 4: The Pit of the Surrounded

SERMON FOCUS: Daniel in the Lion's Den

KEY SCRIPTURE: Daniel 6

MAIN IDEA: Lions may surround you, but God surrounds lions.

Sermon Ideas:

- Daniel's pit was intentionally designed by his enemies.

- The lions' den was not accidental. It was the result of jealousy, manipulation, accusation, and a law created to trap him.

- Daniel's enemies could not find corruption in his life, so they attacked his faithfulness to God. His consistent prayer life became the very thing they used against him.

- The lions' den was designed to destroy Daniel, but God preserved him there.

- God did not prevent Daniel from entering the den, but He shut the mouths of the lions while Daniel was inside it.

- This story teaches us that God's presence is greater than the place designed against us.

- The enemy may design the pit, but he cannot control God’s power in the pit.

- Christ Connection: Jesus is the greater Daniel.

-- Daniel came out of a sealed den alive,

-- but Jesus came out of a sealed tomb victorious.

-- Through Christ, we know that no pit, no accusation, no enemy,

-- and not even death can have the final word.

Application:

- Remain faithful when opposition rises. Daniel did not change his devotion because of the threat around him.

- Trust God’s preserving power. God can keep you in places that were meant to consume you.

- Let your deliverance become a witness. Daniel’s preservation revealed the power of God to a watching world.
