TITLE OF JESUS: Great Sheperd

In the ancient Near East culture, a name was a refuge because it was the invocation of a god or king’s power and sovereignty over you. In that way, Jesus reveals the name of the Father and that becomes our safe refuge. A shepherd’s name, or his character, meant protection and security for the sheep. His name protects us.
Speak His name in anxiety, fear, and danger. Take refuge in the presence that His name brings.
